Travelling abroad for dental work can feel like a big step, especially if it is your first time. Most of the uncertainty disappears once you know what to actually expect. Here are five practical things worth sorting out before you book your flight to Tirana.
1. You Probably Do Not Need a Tourist Visa
Albania allows visa-free entry for citizens of the EU, UK, USA, Canada and most other countries we welcome patients from, for short stays. Always double-check the current rules for your specific nationality before booking, but for the vast majority of our patients, a valid passport is all that is needed.
2. Plan for at Least 3 to 5 Days
Some simple treatments, like whitening or a single filling, can be done in a day or two. Larger cases, such as veneers, crowns or implants, usually need a few separate clinical steps spaced a day or more apart, plus time for any lab work. We will always give you a realistic day-by-day itinerary during your consultation, so you can book your travel with confidence.
3. Bring Any Existing Dental Records or X-Rays
If you have recent X-rays, a treatment plan from another dentist, or notes about allergies and medical conditions, bring copies (digital or printed). It helps our team move faster on your first visit and avoids repeating scans that were already taken recently.
4. Pack for Two Climates
Tirana is mild for most of the year but can be quite hot in summer and cooler than visitors expect in winter evenings. If your treatment involves some downtime with sensitivity to hot or cold, comfortable layers make the recovery days easier.
5. Currency, Cards and Payment Timing
The local currency is the Albanian Lek, but euros are widely accepted in hotels and many shops. Card payments are standard at the clinic. We confirm your all-inclusive quote before you travel, so there are no surprises once you land – the price you are quoted after your consultation is the price you pay.
